In our latest efforts to refine our mixed reality (MR) environment, we’ve implemented several key updates aimed at enhancing the realism and interactive capabilities of our virtual space. Here’s a breakdown of what I’ve accomplished recently:
- Furniture Replacement(desks)
- To better align with the aesthetic and thematic elements of our MR experience, I replaced the existing furniture in the virtual room with pieces that complement the story’s setting and mood. This change has significantly improved the visual coherence of the environment.
- Adding Virtual Items (Candle):
- A virtual candle was introduced to the scene, not just as a decorative element, but also as a functional object that enhances the ambiance and provides interactive opportunities for the user.
- Interaction Enhancements (Grab):
- I integrated a ‘grab’ interaction, allowing users to interact physically with the virtual candle and other elements within the room. This feature aims to increase the immersiveness of the MR experience by enabling users to manipulate virtual objects as if they were real.
- Background Introduction via Video Player:
- To provide users with context and background about the virtual environment and its story, I added a video player that plays introductory content. This addition helps set the narrative tone and gives users a deeper understanding of the setting and storyline.
Future Plans to Further Enrich the MR Environment
Building on the recent updates, I have planned several exciting enhancements that will further deepen the interactive and narrative aspects of our MR experience:
- Interactive Elements for Story Enhancement:
- Wood-Burning Interaction: I plan to create a realistic interaction where users can initiate and control the burning of wood in a fireplace, enhancing the realism and sensory experience of the room.
- Snow Particle Effects: To add to the atmospheric elements of the story, I intend to introduce snow particles that will appear inside the room, simulating a cold, wintry environment that ties in with the narrative.
- Triggering Narrative Elements through Interaction:
- Animal God Appearance via Collider: By grabbing a virtual fur in the room, users will trigger the appearance of a fox god, integrating mythological elements into the MR environment seamlessly. This interaction will not only be magical but also crucial for advancing the storyline.
- Enhancing Background Introduction:
- Replacing the Video with Inkling Drawing Video: To maintain consistency with the artistic style of our MR experience, I plan to replace the current introductory video with one that uses inkling drawings. This style will better reflect the aesthetic of the virtual environment and enrich the overall artistic expression of the narrative.
